A social media manager is a person who gets paid to promote business on the social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and others.
Social media is now a very important strategy when promoting your business and businesses are starting to see that. So much so that during the last Super Bowl Pepsi didn’t advertise and opted instead to use their marketing budget on social media.
Imagine that! Everybody’s out there Twittering and Facebooking, friending and following – how is this possibly business related?
Social media has gone from curiosity to craze and businesses who are on the social media train are profiting.
One big problem has come up though and that is the fact that too few people know how to properly direct social media traffic to their business and fewer still have little desire to learn how. As a matter of fact, social networking is frowned upon during work hours in many (if not most) places of work.
While these business have been alienating their world from a HUGE source of potential leads they have inadvertently been designing a high-demand job for the Tweet friendly herd.
Just do a quick search online to see what jobs there are. Jobs like social media strategist that pays around $60K.
Not to mention many other jobs that will soon require you know more than just a little something about social media. Jobs like customer service (last time the power went out the power company was Tweeting updates), and public relations (always good to have the next election candidate with a good profile on LinkedIn and Facebook).
It’s a growing part of the world and the water is warm – come on in. Watch this video and what they are saying about social media managers in the news!
