Whether you design your own website or have someone do it for you, there are some ‘must have’ pages of information you should include in your design.
First is your landing page or home page. Some people think this is the first page everyone sees but not necessarily the case. How many times have you done a search for something and actually saw the home page of the website you went to?
Regardless of how often it is visited, your home page should be your showcase. An attractive but serviceable overview of your products and a compelling brag book of your services. Make sure it is simple to navigate and easily provides direction to your customer to where they want to go.
All websites should have the contact information readily apparent. If you make people work for it they won’t connect with you. Have a contact page with all methods of contact and physical directions to your business. Make it simple for people by including a contact form, email address, phone number, and other associated sites they can notify you on like Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook.
You also need to have a page that clearly describes you and your business service. Don’t make people guess what you do. I can’t tell you how many websites I have visited that do not clearly describe what they do. Forget the corporate empty, windy worded, gobbledygook, and replace it with a clear language on the”About Us” page. This will inform and help people decide if they want to do business with you or not. You can also use this page to highlight your expertise in your field by listing awards or your mission statement.
Having a Blog on your website is a great way of communicating with your customers that you are active in your market. By having fresh content on a scheduled basis, it will keep people engaged as well as signals the search engines that you have an active website. SE’s will then keep coming back to index your site. This helps to boost your ranking in the organic listings.
Selling Online
Including an online store is another way to sell your products and services. By installing an eCommerce platform you can sell products and book appointments while you sleep. Imagine how nice it would be to have your schedule updated with new and interested customers every day.
Don’t forget to brag about all your win’s. Or better yet, let your satisfied clients do the bragging for you. Setting up a testimonial page helps new visitors to your site see what their neighbours are saying about you. If you also have great reviews on some other public sites you can direct people to these pages as well.
Why Have a FAQ Page
If you have noticed that you often get asked the same questions over and over, this would be something you can put together on a FAQ page. When people are looking for answers to a specific question and it was you and your website that provided them with the answer, that shows them you know what you are doing. This page provides upfront credibility.
The TOS page is important for listing your policies and practices for your business and website. This is something you may consider having your lawyer write for you to ensure you are protected legally. Make sure your lawyer is familiar with online and ecommerce rules and regulations.
Having a website with just a little information is like handing out business cards without your name on them. Being informative and helpful will assist in engaging customers and it’s a great way to let your expertise and personality shine.
