Using Video’s for Marketing

You may have heard that some people are able to make a recurring income using videos and wonder how they are doing it.

Quite simply there are millions of videos out there just waiting for you to capitalize on with little or no marketing experience. You can also generate income by doing product review video’s.

The first thing to consider it how to name your video. Because YouTube is actually a search engine, and the second largest to “you know who”. Titling your video for a the search term is first priority.

When you do a review of a product and name it “product name review” or “the truth about product name” your video will show up under the “product name” search term. This is targeted marketing to the max. People using that particular search term are already pre-qualified and know about the product already. What is known as a warm prospect.

Now all you need to do is push them over the buying edge with your video.

Of course you can use this review method to promote any affiliate product.

Researching a product that you may potentially promote only requires a few things. First you want to make sure the commission is good as well as the affiliate company is reputable. I also suggest that before you promote any product, except for launch products, that you do obtain a REAL copy of that specific product.

Sometimes if you contact the vendor they will supply you with a review copy, but if you are new to affiliate marketing they may not – not until you have made yourself noticeable to them. You do this by selling lots of their stuff.

If you must, then purchase a copy and give it a real hands on review. Your genuineness will carry through to your video and in your voice.

The same goes for physical products.

In the case of promoting launch products, you may want to stick to people that you know have historically produced high quality products.

Other things to research is the keyword competition. You can use the Google keyword tool to check this out. Your competition will be less if the product name isn’t common. For example a list building product called “List Building on Steroids” will have non-product listings come up in the SERP making it more difficult to rank.

Choosing a product whose name is unique will help you to leverage your competitive edge.

When you make your video, make it engaging, helpful, and focus on the buyers needs. What are they looking for, how is this product going to help them.

You don’t necessarily have to be on camera yourself, but be upbeat and smiling when you talk. Monotone and drab is going to bore the heck out of the viewer. Be cool about it and actually show them what positive things the product did for you.

Look around for “out of the box” reviews and see who has a high number of views. What are they doing right?

When you post your video, name it using the keywords and use the description box wisely. Make sure your affiliate link is on top so the person viewing your video doesn’t have to click on the “show more” to see your link.

Use keywords smartly in your description too and use up all the words. Make a nice and informative blog style post.

Ranking of your video will depend on competition, relevancy, and backlinking strategies.

For a long-term income planning, choose products that are evergreen in nature. Its ok to do this for a launch but your days are numbered.

Another way to promote products with your affiliate link and not even having to have your own videos is to go to YouTube, punch in some keywords relevant to a product you want to promote and see who comes up.

Check out some of the videos made by the regular Joe who has lots of views but they aren’t promoting anything. Contact them through their channel and strike up a JV deal.
