Trying to make a living online means getting your name out there. Often this is accomplished by article writing. Effective article writing can include guest posting on influential blogs.
How nice it would be to see your article promoted by a prominent player in your market.
Right?
This means putting in the time and research, writing emails and trying to contact blog owners only to get… rejected!
Well poop! Now what?
No worries, all is not lost. Not at all.
First have a look at why your article didn’t make the cut.
Why Write Great Articles?
One of the top reasons for being rejected has absolutely nothing to do with you or your writing prowess. It might simply have been there were several other guest hopefuls that sent in their articles on the same subject on the same day.
Yours didn’t wind up in the top pic – not a harsh reject. Instead, post it to a place like EzineArticles.com or Blogger.com.
If you want to better your chances of rising to the top of the heap, write a snappy and noticeable headline in your email. This is email marketing after all and you are trying to impress someone.
The other thing you can do is ask yourself – did you really do all you could to catch their attention? Check out all their other guest posts and do an honest critique of the one you just wrote. Are you really delivering the style and type of content they would find useful? Informative?
Did you follow the “Contact Us” rules? There could be a page specific for article submissions, follow the steps exactly.
Perhaps your guest post was a tad on the boring side. You know what I mean. Those articles that spew forth words and say absolutely nothing useful or helpful. The same old blah, blah, blah that everyone else is crafting.
Stand out.
Take a stand and defend it. What is your post about? Why are you making the statements you are?
Write to your audience to provide real value. Give something away that is worth the readers time invested to read your article. I know I can’t stand reading through something that did nothing but steal my time.
Be cool, be entertaining, be bold and beautiful.
Similar to being boring your article just might not be original enough. If you are doing the same old “top 10…” or “5 ways…” and the persons blog you hope to post to doesn’t have anything like that now – they won’t want it from you either.
What is your field of expertise? How can you tie that into your targeted bloggers blog? If you effectively marry the two you will be in a grand position to be the chosen one.
For example, if they blog about “small business marketing” and you want to spread the word about a new digital product in weight loss. Write your post on the subject of “how to market your small business in the weight loss niche”. And come up with a snappy title for your email like:
[Guest Article] The Business of Weight Loss
Remember you are writing to your hosts audience and they are a special group of people who have handed over their trust. They expect to receive a particular type of post. Fill those expectations and become a happy guest blogger for the sites of your choosing.
